11th Malcolm Arnold Festival - Lowry Quintet

Saturday October 15th, 7.30pm

Derngate Theatre, Northampton

The  Lowry Quintet perform a range of Arnold's Chamber works for quintet, alongside performances of other seinal Enlish wind quintets composed by fellow composers of the 20th century such as Fricker and Chagrin.  Flute: Jenny Dyson, Oboe: Beatrice Hubble, Clarinet: Harry Michalas, Horn: Julia Payne, Bassoon: Richard Ion.

Rochdale Music Society - Vista Trio

Bamford Chapel, Rochdale

 

The Vista Trio pair up with harpist Elinor Nicholson to perform works from composers such as Bernstein, Alwyn, Pizzolla, Ibert and Quantz.  Includes solos for all instrumentalists - one not to be missed!

Feast of Christmas Music

 

4th December 2016 7.30pm

Worksop Sinfonia, Worksop College

 

Celebrate the run up to Christmas in traditional style this year with uplifting performance of Puccini's Messa di Gloria. The second half of the concert includes Vaughan Williams’ festive gem Fantasia on Christmas Carols and carol settings by Berlioz and Schalk. Interval refreshments of mulled wine and mince pies will be served in the historic Great Hall of Worksop College. There is no better way to get into the Christmas spirit!

An hour's concert dedicated to remembering WW1, celebrating those composers who fought such as Ralph Vaughan Williams and performing music closely associated with the Great War, such as Elgar, Holst and Butterworth.  The performance will also include letters and poems from the war.  the perfect beautiful aternoon's concert in the perfect setting of Lake Windemere to rest and reflect.
